While several non-dairy products
were available the founders of the company realized there was a niche in the
market place for a product that closely mirrored dairy products but did not
contain all the fat, cholesterol and lactose normally associated with those
products. With that in mind the company was founded during 1987 with an eye
towards creating a soft-serve frozen dessert with a smooth, creamy-textured
mouth-feel and rich in satisfying flavor.
It was realized early on that our product had to substantially exceed features
and benefits of existing dairy products in order to penetrate the marketplace.
It was decided to blend a powdered mix that would provide ease of handling,
storage and maintain a long shelf life. It also had to be almost foolproof
during the in-facility preparation. All of this was accomplished and the
resulting product is a powdered mix that can be easily combined with water and
when introduced into any soft-serve machine produces an exceptional soft-serve
frozen dessert.
A major hurdle was also overcome with regard to cleaning soft-serve equipment.
Most local statutes require the daily cleaning of soft-serve machines to cut
down or eliminate the promulgation of harmful bacteria associated with dairy
products. Regular testing by certified laboratories show that our product, when
left in soft-serve equipment for up to four days, does not promulgate growth of
harmful bacteria.
The product was launched during late 1987 and has been successfully marketed
through both civilian and military channels. Customers have continued to comment
about a rich ice cream-like quality and the ease with which the product is
handled and stored. Costs have been reduced for shipping, storage and loss due
to spoiled dairy product.
